Comments about the visual quality of the movies:

Most of the films shown here are encoded in 720 x 576 resolution at 25 frames per second (European PAL format), and are not interlaced. However some of them, and notably the longest (the Museum project) have been initially calculated with the "fields" option activated. This means that they are 50 images per second. This allows for better playing on a television set.

Re-encoded from the original MPEG2 files in various formats at 25 frames per second without interlacing to avoid the "comb" effect on computers not equipped with a software DVD player, these movies may show a jerky image on some fast motions.

In addition, the constraints related to limited bandwidth of some users accounts led me to a compromise to decrease the size of the files. This may result in a loss of quality compared to the original files.

Comments or difficulties playing a video file ?

Your comments will be welcome on my E-mail . Feel free to contact me if you have some difficulties playing a video file. My usual file formats are MPEG2 not interlaced, DivX6, WMV and QuickTime Sorenson 3. Due to a request for Open formats, most of the movies are now also available in Theora.ogg format. However, if your computer setup does not allow you to play them, and if you want a particular file format which is not available in the list above, let me know and I will try to encode my movies with your preferred codec.

If you encounter difficulties trying to read some video formats with your usual player, I recommend the use of VLC Media Player. This excellent player is available for every operating system and read almost every video format without the need of searching and installing codecs. You will find it here : www.videolan.org
